These nuobell type adjustable dumbbells are worth more than their weight in space savings and adjustability.
Just like standard nuobells, the internals are mostly plastic. The fixed plates screw into a metal collar behind a plastic subframe. These are not dumbbells made to be dropped. Also don't believe the videos put out by nuobell reps that these things have loose plates and fall apart. The plates fit tight, there is minimal noise, and everythi g is locked as soon as you pull it from the cradle.
What I have found is that if you knock the handle down to 2kg you can remove one half of the plates which gives you an offset weight that can be used as either a light kettlebell (up to 17kg) or for wrist and forearm excercises which is a bonus.
One con is that the fixed plate is cut out which makes waiter curls a bit uncomfortable. Some inserts would make this a lot easier. Also, I have been having a small issue with the 1kg plates sticking sometimes, but some graphite powder should resolve the issue.
Overall these were a great purchase and I'm happy that I can finally lift heavier at home without paying thousands and without using all of my space for hex bells.

Very versatile dumbbells!! I like the fact that the plates lock into each other so that the 5kg dumbbell is not the same size as the 32 kg dumbbell. Way easier for my teenage daughter to use and still enough weight for her dad to use too. Easy to select weight with the twisting the grip handle forward and back. Looks like they are made well with quality materials. Hopefully they will stand the test of time! Also, no problems dealing with Fit it out…shipped fairly quickly.
