York Rubber-Coated Cast Iron Kettlebell

A solid cast iron kettlebell wrapped in a durable rubber coating — and the coating is the whole point. It takes the ring out of a set-down, spares your floor when a swing comes down harder than planned, and won't chip a baseboard the way bare iron does. If you train in a condo, a basement with the family upstairs, or a studio with a shared wall, this is the version to buy.

The finish carries York's red Y and clear white weight markings, printed on both sides of the bell face so the number is readable whichever way it's sitting on the rack. Single-piece cast construction means there's no seam or weld at the handle to work loose over time, and the handle is smooth enough for high-rep swings without tearing up your hands.

The matte black finish runs across the handle and body alike. Most budget rubber-coated bells leave the handle raw or chromed, which starts showing wear within a few months of chalk and sweat — a uniform coating holds its look a lot longer.

Not sure where to start?

Most people new to swings do well starting at 20–25 lb. Most people who've been lifting a while start at 30–35 lb. The gap between the bell you swing and the bell you press is usually two sizes — so if you're buying two, that's the spacing to aim for. The 45 and 50 lb bells are swing and carry territory: heavy two-hand swings, farmer's walks, and suitcase carries.
